Health-E Tip:
Smelling Your Way To Health

Have you ever noticed some smells turn you on, while others turn you off? It is said that when picking a partner in life, or "mate", one should be attracted to his/her scent. Smell can be an integral part in enjoying your relationship :)

It is also said smell can alter your state. When I say state, I mean the way you feel - happy, sad, relaxed, euphoric, excited, energetic, focussed...you get the gist. Many of you have requested an article on aromatherapy

Aromatherapy dates back over 5000 years. Here are some of my favorite essential oils:

Energy Builders:
Citrus extracts: Grapefruit,
Orange, Lemon

Intimacy Enhancers:
Ylang Ylang, Lavender, Rose, Jasmine

Relaxation Soothers:
Lavender, Sandalwood, Chamomile

Immune Boosters:
Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon

Women Saviors:
Clary Sage, Marjoram, Chamomile, Lavender, Peppermint

I will email you some special recipes later this month to create your own aromatherapy blends, and hopefully by then, I will have my online store up for you to go shopping in too!

Workplace Wellness Tip:
Getting involved

Do you know what your company's Workplace Wellness Plan is? Do they have one? Do some research to find out if you have such a thing at your workplace. A surprising number of people are not aware of their company's Wellness initiatives. While some companies still do not have such thing, many do. Do some research and find out what your company offers. While you are at it learn what health care services are covered by your health care plan. Many insurance programs now compensate Alternative Medicine services.

Here are some guidelines to assist you in your quest:
1. If you do not have a Workplace Wellness Program, perhaps you are the one to get it started. Speak with your team/staff/management/president/board of directors to see if there is a need for one and what it would take to get one started. I would be happy to go through this process with you. On a side note, Zenergy (the health and wellness portal on my web site) is an example of a dynamic program available to companies that want to incorporate wellness in the workplace at an affordable cost
2. You have a Wellness program at work! Unveil the programs/services in the wellness program you would like to take advantage of. Get involved and sign up for them. Go for it!
3. If Alternative Medicine is covered by your health plan, take advantage of it! Learn what services are covered. Seeing an Alternative Medical practitioner is a great place to prevent dis-ease and improve your state of health.

The bottom line is be active in your health. Be a proactive participant in your well-being and have FUN while you are doing it. Get your coworkers involved. Practice what you preach and what you most desire to have in your life.

Yummy Recipe:
Melt in Your Mouth Mango Chutney

1 large Mango
1 Jalapeno Pepper to taste
1/2 Bunch of cilantro
1/2 lime
Dash of sea salt

This is a simple recipe with delicious side effects!

Chop the mango into little smaller than bite size pieces. Chop the jalapeno pepper into tiny, tiny, tiny pieces, so it is almost minced. Use only as much as you care to - depending on how hot and spicy you like your food. Chop the cilantro into small pieces too!

Combine everything into a beautiful serving bowl, squeeze fresh lime over top, add a small dash of sea salt, toss and serve. Melt in Your Mouth Mango Chutney is wonderful served with curries, grilled vegetables, stews, steaks (if you eat meat), and stir fries It is also beautiful tossed with pasta.
